Where songs actually get finished

A recording studio tucked away on Williamson Creek, Austin. Built by hand. Built for artists

Hideaway Recorders exists because too many good projects never get finished.

Not because the songs weren't ready. Not because the artists didn't care. Because the day rate at most studios is expensive enough that momentum dies between sessions. You book a day, spend half of it getting disjointed sounds, run out of time and money, and the record sits unfinished on a hard drive somewhere.

We've worked in those rooms. We know how it goes.

Founded by Alec Boyd and Jason Borkowski, Hideaway was built as the alternative studio. Small and intentional by design. Tucked behind a music school and rehearsal space on Williamson Creek, surrounded by live oaks, inside one of the last spaces in Austin where bands still come to play every day. The overhead stays low so we can focus on the work instead of the clock.

The artists who come here are DIY by nature. They care deeply about what they're making. They're not looking for the most famous room in town. They're looking for a place where someone cares and looks after their project from

That's what Hideaway is.

What happens here

Recording

Tracking sessions for bands and solo artists. Half days and full days. If you play your instruments and have songs that are ready, we can make a record. No click track required.

Production

If you've written something but don't know how to finish it, that's where we come in. We'll map out the song before we touch anything — arrangement, feel, what it needs. Then we build it. We'll find the right players if the song calls for them. The goal is always the same: end up with a great piece of art that sounds like you.

Mixing & Mastering

Available as standalone services or as part of a full project. If you tracked somewhere else and need someone to finish it, we can bring your song or album over the finish line

The room

The studio faces Williamson Creek in South Austin, inside one of the last working rehearsal facilities in the city. The signal chain is clean, the room is treated, and the rest is up to the song and the performers.

The inside space is small and intentional, but access to nature is right outside our door. Secluded spots tucked into the trees where a band can spread out between takes. A creek twenty steps from the door with turtles and deer if you know where to look. A nine hole disc golf course on the property if you need to shake something loose.

Most studios give you four walls and a couch. This one gives you somewhere to actually breathe.
